I attended a school for Geniuses as a child
where I received rehabilitation for a hit
to my left cortex at six and a tear across my face
from my mouth. I had the best plastic surgeon
in the state. The small scar now hides beneath my beard.
I was taught French and Italian and Hebrew as rehab.
I had a Speech Pathologist and Audiologist.
I was taught guitar, piano, drums, and trumpet.
I have little to no memories of my past.
I functioned fine back then, but looking back
I know where I went to school, where I worked,
and where I lived, but my daily memories of learning
are not there. I can speak French and Italian and Hebrew
and other languages but I dont know what I am saying.
My Care Team says so far that it is French and it follows
with what they are seeing.
I listened to Robin Williams on an interview the other day
in which he said that his son was studying in college
at the time in linguistics and when asked what
a linguist does, Robin remarked that he fixes sentences.
My interest was Linguistic History as a cultural Advisor
for programs to counter the fraying of society from the
chaos of the sixties.
