My father’s second company was testing for Spalding or Titan.
We met Glenn Campbell and invited him to our Governor’s birthday
party to be a few months later, but my father, a retired Military Contractor,
received a call from his friend Sen Henry Jackson that Bork had
just fired Cox. It was the Night of the Saturday Night Massacre.
And Sen Jackson was returning to DC for Impeachment hearings
and would miss the birthday party. We met Dick Martin while at the
golf tournament. He was co-host on Roin and Martin’s Laughin.
Lorne Michele started his career on Laughin. Roin was dating
Giocana’s girl out of Chicago. At the end of the night’s show
Roin and Martin would hand out the Fickle Finger of Fate Award.
And then Roin would say to Dick Martin… say goodnight Dick.
