Sweet Sixteen

A friend of mine said something today in response to

something that I said when I said that it changes a person

when their parents pass. It was brilliant what she said…

yes, we are now the adults in the room.

I have noticed that it makes death more real, closer.

But that clearness of death, and proximity does not bother me.

I am not afraid of death aside from the moment.

If I am brave I see it as inevitable.

You might have thought I was going to say a transition or a path.

That is true. But it feels more like inevitable.

But not in a way that makes me dwell on it.

Perhaps.
