Kit Carson

In third grade they forgot to teach me cursive –

in second grade. Or perhaps I was still recovering.

I am a Genius and I spoke French and in third grade

the school forgot cursive.

My neighbor brought the neighborhood kids to see the Battle of Midway in

’73. His wife brought just me to see Lawrence of Arabia. And then he

arranged for his friend the Governor to have himself and my family host

Cadets from West Point on Choir Tour.

And in 1973 my mother put wallpaper up in my room of Toy Soldiers.

And my father’s friend Sen Jackson called from landing

in St. Louis to say that he had to return to DC to impeach Nixon and would

miss the Governor’s birthday party with us. I t was the night of the

Saturday night Massacre when Nixon had Bork fire Cox.

My father had offered to buy me a Delorean. I bought myself a 1992

Daytona. I don’t have a car now. I get by fine. I enjoy walking like

meditation. I have had nice cars in my life. But now I have diabetes

and can no longer see well enough out of my left eye from a small stroke in

my left eye. I have a benign Cyst that is completely benign on the let side

of my brain that I take seizure medication for from when I was hurt at

seven. But the injury at seven left me with CAPD and an Auditory Closure

problem and Language Disabilities. But I am in good health at about 140lbs

from 230lbs with an a1c of 5.5. I lost the weight from walking 4-8 miles a

day.

What’s important to me is Kit Carson.
